John Lee James Obituary

Mr. John Lee James was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on August 22, 1950 son of the late Odell James and Marilee Isaac. He answered the master’s call on Friday, August 9, 2019. 

John Lee was an avid fisherman.  He was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys team. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Aretta Hart, and his brothers, Leon, O.L. and Jerry James.

He was united in holy matrimony for forty eight years to the former Eartha Wooden. He worked for many years at Ducane in Blackville, South Carolina, and later retired from Delevan in Bamberg, South Carolina after serving over eighteen years. John Lee will be profoundly missed by all who loved him. 

Those left to cherish the rich legacy of Mr. John Lee James are his wife, Eartha W. James of the home; Daughters, Valare James (Don) Preacher of Columbia, South Carolina, and Anita James of Barnwell, South Carolina; Son, Anthony (Theosia) James of St. Marys, Georgia; Siblings, Thomas James of Neeses, South Carolina, Ethel Barnes and Mary Rouse both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nathaniel James, Alice (Linard) Kinard and Wayne James all of Norway, South Carolina; Grandchildren, Deondre James, JaMarcus James, Amarion Akins, Jaquez James; Granddaughters, Shemica Riddle, Regina Youmans, Teja James, Imani James, Anajae James, Armoni Akins, and a special grandson, Amir King James; Step Grandchildren, Xiondra Williams, Kortney Grenyion, and Sydney Grenyion; Five great grandchildren; Mother in law, Alwillie Wooden of Salley, South Carolina; Brothers in laws, Curtis (Joann) Wooden, Eddie Wooden, Donnie (Bernita) Wooden, and Ronnie (Sennia) Wooden; Sisters in law, Christa Fulmer and Debra Wooden; Special Friend, Legrand Steadman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
