Mother Mary Pearl Gleaton was born on February 2, 1947 in Norway SC to the late Mr. William Bell and late Mrs. Ruth Hawkin Bell. Mother Mae Pearl, as she was affectionately known, transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the residence of her daughter.
Mother Mae Pearl attended the Public Schools of Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She loved reading, mastering crossword puzzles, and helping others. She was a member of The Center of Hope Ministry where she served as Mother of the Church. She was faithful on the Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Intercessory and Noon Day Prayer Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Bell; son, Leon Gleaton; and brothers, Harvey Bell and Leroy Bell.
Mother Mary Pearl is survived by a daughter, Pastor Cynthia (Jerry) Simpkins of Springfield, SC; sons, Dennis Gleaton and William Antonio Gleaton of Springfield, SC; brothers, Marion Whaley (Patricia) Bell, Bruce W. (Tammy) Bell of Springfield, SC, Lewis (Edna) Bell of Bamberg, SC and Richard (Sara) Bell of Pelion, SC; sisters, Ruth Ann Washington and Ethel Mae Bell of Springfield, SC, Jimmie Lou (Booker T) Washington of Norway SC, and JoAnn Hazel of Elko, SC; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
