McDonald "Sonny" Johnson

Mr. McDonald "Sonny" Johnson, 78, was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on December 5, 1943 the son of the late Donald and Gussie Johnson. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, December 31, 2021.

“Sonny” as he was known by many was employed with Smith Trucking. After rendering over sixteen years of service he retired. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and especially joking around.  He was also an avid Gamecocks fan. He was a member of the Flora Branch Missionary Baptist Church, North, South Carolina.

He was united in holy matrimony on August 26, 1967 to Patricia Johnson. They lived harmoniously for over fifty five years. “Sonny” was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Johnson; mother, Gussie Johnson; father, Donald Johnson; and brother, Brooker T. Johnson.

Those left to cherish his fond memories are his wife, Patricia Johnson of the home; his children, Anthony (Annette) Johnson, Bonnie Johnson of North, South Carolina, Deborah (Terence) Haskins of Livingston, South Carolina, Brenda Johnson of North, South Carolina, and Rosalind (Wesley) Scott of North, South Carolina; sisters, Belvia Johnson of North, South Carolina and Bernice Johnson of North, South Carolina; sisters in law, Dorothy Robinson, Carolyn (Wilbert) Gleaton, and Cynthia Holman all of Springfield, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; special friends, Tyrone Davis, Dempsey Miller, and Freddie Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
