Mr. Joe Louis Wade Obituary

"But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."

Mr. Joe Louis Wade, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on December 31, 1935, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, to the late Nettie Serious Wade and Ladis Wade, Sr. On Sunday, August 31, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with illness, Joe peacefully transitioned from labor to reward, finding eternal rest in the arms of his Savior.

From a young age, Joe accepted Christ and joined Bushy Pond Baptist Church, where he remained a dedicated member until his health no longer permitted. His commitment to the church was unwavering, serving faithfully as a Trustee for over 30 years.

Joe was a proud graduate of Norfield High School and went on to build a distinguished 30-year career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation in Bamberg County. Known for his steadfast work ethic, reliability, and quiet strength, Joe was admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A devoted fan of Clemson University, Joe's passion for his Tigers was unmatched—he was rarely seen without his signature Clemson gear, a symbol of his unwavering loyalty and pride.

Above all, Joe was a man of deep faith, strong character, and immense love for his family and community. He approached every responsibility with diligence and heart, leaving a lasting legacy of service, kindness, and resilience.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nettie and Ladis Wade, Sr.; two sisters, Linda Wade and Annette Wade; and one brother, Charles Wade, Sr.

Joe's memory will be forever cherished by his loving family: a devoted niece and nephew, Wanda and Freddie Turner of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters, Mabel Cloyd of Columbia, South Carolina, and Jannette Edwards of Baytown, Texas; his brother, Ladis Wade, Jr. (Hattie) of Orangeburg, South Carolina; a special nephew, Ashford Wade; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Special thanks are extended to the compassionate team at Prisma Health Hospice and to the dedicated staff of Palmetto Oaks Adult Day Health Center for their exceptional care and support during Mr. Wade’s sickness and his final journey.

Joe Louis Wade will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His love, legacy, and light will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
