Mr. Joseph Hugh Williams was born November 30, 1957 in Bamberg County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Marion and Melvin Williams. He was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 65 on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Aiken regional Medical Center in Aiken, South Carolina.
Joseph’s education began at Macedonia School and then he went to Miami Central in Miami. He later returned to the South and gradated from Blackville High School in 1976.
Joseph worked at Talley Corbet for years and then started driving trucks for Senn in Newberry, South Carolina. He later retired from the International Paper company in Lexington, South Carolina where he was a supervisor.
Joseph loved singing. He was one of the original members of the Gospelairs of Springfield, South Carolina. Joseph was a member of the New Five Gospel of Springfield, South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Jr., Isaac, Marion and Laurie Williams and Lewis Lewis Ross; his siters, Mae Francis Hammonds and Mildred Johnson.
Those who are left to cherish his fond and loving memories are his two loving daughters, Roshanda Johnson and Shanekole Williams both of Aiken, South Carolina; Step Son, Eric Rose of Springfield, South Carolina; two sisters, Lucille of Delaware and Ella Louisa of Boston, Massachusetts; three brothers, Willie Joe (Sheryl) Williams of Blackville, South Carolina, Phillip Williams of Boston, Massachusetts, and James Chester Williams of Columbia, South Carolina; three granddaughters, Samone Newton, Quanekquia Washington and Alexcia Johnson all of Aiken, South Carolina; three grandsons, JaVonte Williams, Timothy Monroe III and David Johnson all of Aiken, South Carolina; four great grandchildren, Jacari Brown. Mekhi Brown, Azaelea Friday and Messiah Williams all of Aiken, South Carolina; his companion, Matilda Bing of Hephzibah, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins all of who join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
