He attended the Norfield school. At an early age He became a member of the Bushy Pond Baptist Church. Later in life he became a member of the Jehovah Witness Church. In 1970, he married to Simpy Ann Tyler in and this union was blessed with six children. She entered into eternal rest in 1987. He worked faithfully for many years at Dixie Narco from which he retired. He continued to work at Carolina Fresh and also as a mechanic until his demise. He loved his tractor and working in his garden which was something he took pride. He was so skilled with his crops that he knew the time each crop should be planted. He would always tell everyone to come get something out of his garden. When people see him coming they would hide their elbows because they knew he was coming for them. He loved to talk and joke with people and making them laugh.
