Mr. Reginald Trent "HOSS" Johnson Obituary

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalm 23:1, 6

Reginald Trent Johnson, affectionately known by family and friends as “Fatz,” was born on September 13, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Louvenia Johnson and Abe Jacobs, Jr. On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Reginald peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest at Pruitt Health Care Nursing Home in Aiken, South Carolina.

Reginald was a devoted and hardworking man. For more than twenty years, he served faithfully as a truck driver for Carolina Fresh Farms in Neeses, South Carolina. His commitment to excellence and his cheerful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

Beyond his dedication to his work, Reginald was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He proudly cheered on his team through every season, win or lose, and his love for the Cowboys was well known to all who knew him. Game days were special to him, and his passion for “America’s Team” always brought excitement to those around him.

Reginald was preceded in death by his loving parents, Louvenia Johnson and Abe Jacobs, Jr.; four brothers, Charles Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Lenard Jacobs, and Toby Jacobs; five sisters, Brenda Washington, Denise Gilbert, Regina Johnson, Mary Ethel Johnson, and Aliane Butler; and two nephews, Van Johnson and Reon Johnson.

Though he has departed this life, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Left to cherish his legacy is his beloved Goddaughter, Taliyah Gilmore of Norway, South Carolina. He is also lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Angibelle Johnson of Aiken, South Carolina, and Linda Lee Jacob of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Abel Jacob and Thomas Jacob, both of Columbia, South Carolina; two aunts, Leila Johnson of West Virginia and Minnie Harley of Norway, South Carolina.

He also leaves to celebrate his life ten nieces, Thelma Clemons of Aiken, South Carolina; Shantane Williams and Kikila Lewis, both of Columbia, South Carolina; Alexis Johnson of Blackville, South Carolina; Tylisha Gilbert of Barnwell, South Carolina; Gloria Gilbert of Denmark, South Carolina; and Tanesha Gilmore, A’Ziah Gilmore, and Jariyah Gilmore, all of Norway, South Carolina along with five nephews: Travis (Juanitta) Johnson and Wilbur (Courtney) Johnson, both of Blackville, South Carolina; Brandell (Tammy) Gilbert of Graniteville, South Carolina; Todd Summers of Bamberg, South Carolina; and Ryan Fields of Orangeburg, South Carolina.

A special great-niece, Nastaja Smith, held a unique and cherished place in his heart. He also leaves behind four great-nieces, fourteen great-nephews, four great-great-nieces, and four great-great-nephews.

Reginald’s life was blessed with many friendships, and among them, his special friend John Lewis Jones of Norway, South Carolina, shared a bond of genuine care and companionship.

Reginald will be remembered for his kind heart, his joyful spirit, and his unwavering love for family and friends. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his soul has found peace in the arms of the Lord, and his memory will forever be a guiding light to those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends at 1051 Jones Bridge Road, Blackville, South Carolina. Please continue to keep the Johnson family in your thoughts and prayers as they walk through this difficult season of loss and healing.
