Obituary

Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” Brooks was born on July 24, 1943 to Bennie Edward Brooks and Elizabeth Davis in Richland County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Heartland, Columbia, South Carolina.

Bobby as he was called by many retired after many years of service as a welder. He had a great love for the community in which he was a lifelong resident, the Chapel Hill community. He was often known as the community’s handy man, or "Mayor B".  In addition to all that he did for others, he also loved hunting, fishing, and reading. He truly carried the title of being a Jack of all trades.

He earned his education at the W.A. Perry school.  Bobby married the former Sibble Jane Corbitt on July 24, 1967.  For over fifty-four years they shared love, laughter and many special times. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Edward N. Walker. Bobby was the founder of the Flora Branch Baptist Church Junior Choir.  He will be loved forever, and sorely missed.

His legacy will live on forever in the hearts and lives of his loving and devoted wife Sibble Jane Corbitt Brooks of the home; his children, Elder Gregory O. (Brenda) Jackson of San Antoni, Texas, Jonnifer D. (Ronnie)  Davis of West Columbia, South Carolina, Robert D. (Terrie) Brooks of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Katina M.  (Felicia) Brooks, Lord Shameal Allan, and Lavisa Spencer all of Columbia, South Carolina, Martin Anthony Miller of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Patricia Jackson of North, South Carolina; one brother, Jessie (Loretta) Brooks of Nakina, North Carolina; sisters, Betty Marshall of Someset, New Jersey and Wanda Brooks of Nakina, North Carolina ; brother in law, Ernest (Julia) Tyler, Jr. of Miami, Florida; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
