Mr. Rodney Eugene Johnson Obituary

Celebrating the Life of Rodney Eugene Johnson Rodney was affectionately known as “Teenie,” was born on June 9, 1963, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Louvenia Johnson and Abe Jacobs, Jr. On Friday, September 12, 2025, Rodney gently transitioned into eternal rest at Williston Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Williston, South Carolina.

Rodney’s early education began in the close-knit communities of Norway/Neeses, South Carolina, where he attended Hunter-Kinard Tyler schools. With a deep desire to help others, he went on to study physical therapy at South Carolina State University. Throughout his life, Rodney was no stranger to hard work and dedication. He was employed at the Talley Corbitt Company in Springfield, South Carolina and later at Carolina Fresh Farms in Neeses, South Carolina where he was respected and well-liked by his coworkers.

Though Rodney’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit, kindness, and unforgettable smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Louvenia Johnson and Abe Jacobs, Jr.; three brothers, Charles Johnson, Lenard Jacobs, and Toby Jacobs; five sisters, Brenda Washington, Denise Gilbert, Regin Johnson, Mary Ethel Johnson, and Aliane Butler; and two nephews, Van Johnson and Reon Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his three beloved children: Todd Allen Summers of Bamberg, SC; Alexis Victoria Johnson and Ryan Goodwin, both of Blackville, SC. He is also lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Angibelle Johnson and Linda Lee Jacob, both of Columbia, SC; and three brothers, Reginald Johnson of Blackville, SC, Abel Jacob and Thomas Jacob, both of Columbia, SC; aunts, Leila Johnson of West VA, and Minnie Harley of Norway, SC;

Rodney’s legacy continues through his five cherished grandchildren; Zayveon, Trayveon, Zijana, and two who held a special place in his heart, Terrion and Camari all of Blackville, SC; and two great grandchildren, Trayveon Jr. and Symere. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, including five devoted nieces: Thelma Clemons of Aiken, SC; Shantane Williams and Kikilia Lewis of Columbia, SC; Tylisha Gilbert of Barnwell, SC; and Gloria Gilbert of Denmark, SC. Three loving nephews: Travis (Juanitta) Johnson and Wilbur (Courtney) Johnson of Blackville, SC; and Brandell (Tammy) Gilbert of Graniteville, SC; A special great-niece, Aleah Johnson, held a unique place in his heart, along with many other great nieces, great-nephews, close cousins, and dear friends. Rodney’s life was a gift to us all.

He was a gentle soul with a big heart. While his journey on Earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain eternal.
