A faithful servant of God, her life has been a reflection of His love, a living prayer in every step. She nurtured her family with the same grace and devotion she offered unto the Lord, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and service that will echo through generations.
With deepest love and gratitude, the family of Mrs. Claudia Mae Hawkins, age 87, of 311 Iva Road in the Chapel Hill Community of North, South Carolina, announces her transition from this earthly life into the eternal presence of God. She departed peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, South Carolina.
Born on October 26, 1938, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Claudia was the beloved daughter of Ulysee and Alwillie Corbett. Raised in a home grounded in Christian values, she learned early to walk in faith, humility, and steadfast love principles she would carry throughout her blessed journey.
Mrs. Hawkins was a faithful and devoted member of Bushy Pond Baptist Church, where she was deeply loved, respected, and admired. Her commitment to God’s work was unwavering. She served as a Deaconess, taking her role with great seriousness, reverence, and spiritual dignity. Claudia became a spiritual mother to Pastor Holiday and First Lady Holiday, offering them the warmth of a mother’s love. Her life was a living testimony and a reflection of Christ’s grace. Every step she took was a prayer, every act a gesture of faith. She nurtured her family and community with the same devotion she offered unto the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering service that will echo through generations.
Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nathan Corbett; her loving husband, James Hawkins; and her cherished children, Allorraine Hawkins and Anthony Hawkins. Though she endured great loss, her faith never wavered. She remained a pillar of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and to her Lord.
She leaves to celebrate her beautiful legacy her devoted son, Vincent (Wendy) Hawkins, who stood faithfully by her side. Claudia was richly blessed with grandchildren who adored her: Ashley Schofield, Vincent Hawkins Jr., Alquetta Hawkins, Shakayla Hawkins, Portia Hawkins, and Diamond Hawkins. Her love extended through generations, gracing the lives of her great-grandchildren: Ja'Layia Hawkins, Ja'Koby Hawkins, Antonio Chandler Jr., Sir'Ryah Whittington, Ava Singleton, and Raelynn Johnson, as well as her precious great-great-granddaughter, A'Yana.
Claudia also held a special place in her heart for her godson, Terrence Hartwell. She cherished lifelong friendships, including her best friend Jessie B. Jenkins, and special friends Tamika Whaley, Karen Clemons-Caldwell, Emily Milhouse, and Daphney Baxter. Among her treasured family bonds was her special niece, Joanne Bell-Hazel, along with a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were each touched by her warmth and wisdom.
Mrs. Hawkins lived a life of purpose, humble in spirit, generous in love, and steadfast in faith. She was a source of comfort, a voice of encouragement, and a beacon of God’s grace to all who knew her. Her journey here is complete, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who will forever cherish her memory.
Please keep the Hawkins family lifted in your thoughts and prayers during this tender time.
