Mrs. Rosa Lee Tyler Clemons, daughter of the Late Ervin and Gussie Tyler, was born July 26, 1926, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Clemons attended the public schools of Orangeburg County. She was a faithful member of Good Hope AME Church until her health began to decline. She also attended Spires Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rosa Lee Tyler Clemons was joined in holy matrimony to the late James Pender Clemons. To this union, they were blessed with eleven children. She was preceded in death by three children—Willie James Clemons, Henry James Clemons, and Rosa Mae Clemons and one grandson, Terry Cole Clemons.
“Mrs. Rosa”, as she was affectionally known, demonstrated her lovingkindness and nurturing up until her final days. The care and compassion she had for her family and friends was beyond compare. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were tired, she gave you a place to rest. If you needed some advice, she would offer you some encouragement. All who knew her, are aware of all that she did for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to caring for her family, her home was always open to anyone. There was never a time when “Mrs. Rosa” would turn anyone away.
Rosa had many hobbies that occupied her time. From working, “listening to the news”, to sitting on her porch or looking out her front door, she was always doing something. Rosa’s hobbies also showcased her “gift for numbers.” Her “special gift” was unmatched by any other family member and left many of us in awe. Of the many hobbies she had, Rosa enjoyed getting in the car and riding. Although she didn’t drive, Rosa was always “on the go.” In fact, there were many days she would be gone all day without anyone knowing where she had been. Just like in life, I am sure she’s somewhere in Heaven traveling, moving about and being the virtuous woman, she was destined to be. But mostly, Rosa enjoyed being with her family. Each person she came in touch with was uniquely loved, cherished and adored by “Mrs. Rosa.”
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: four devoted daughters, Mrs. Bessie (Gary) Peeples, Norway, SC, Docie Clemons of the home, Jeanette Clemons, Norway, SC, and Wendy Hay, Salley, SC. Four loving sons, Wilton Clemons, Denmark, SC, Harry Clemons, Orangeburg, SC, Larry Clemons and Joshua Clemons of Norway, SC. Five grandchildren reared in the home: Benedict Clemons, Aiken, SC, Stacy Clemons of the home, Corey (Maya) Clemons, San Diego, CA, Crystal Clemons (Shawn) Salley, Columbia, SC and Prince Clemons, Norway, SC. Two great-grandchildren reared in the home, Olivia Clemons and Demond Clemons. One dedicated sister, Albertha Polite, Cope, SC. Thirty-one grandchildren, eighty-nine great grandchildren, and twenty- seven great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
