Mrs. Sheryl James Obituary

Ms. Sheryl H. James, the daughter of the late William Hughes and Nervy Jennings Hughes was born January 27, 1945 in Bamberg County, South Carolina. She received her education from Voorhees High School in Denmark, South Carolina. She had a love for helping people, therefore; later in life she decided to go back to school to obtain a certification as a CNA.

At an early age she joined the Rome Baptist Church and she later became a member of Pleasant Branch United Methodist Church after marrying the love of her life. Upon further studying of the bible, she was baptized into the Seventh- Day Adventist faith. She was a member of Lir Seventh- Day Adventist Church where she remained faithful until her health declined. She had a passionate and humble spirit toward everyone she met. Her Christian life was exemplified through patience, love and meekness. She will forever touch the hearts of all that came in contact with her. Romans 14:8 say “For if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die we died for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Mrs. Sheryl James was joined in holy matrimony to the late Eddie James on April 2, 1963. This happy union was blessed with eight wonderful children which one, Donnell James preceded her in death. Mrs. Sheryl James quickly departed this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2022.

She leaves to cherish her love and memories her seven children, Paulette  (Nathaniel) Gleaton of Huntsville, AL, Willie (Marsha) James of Mobile, AL, Debra James of Columbia, SC, Eddie James, Jr. (Courtney) of Decatur, AL, Luther James of West Columbia, SC, Emmanuel James (Lisa) of Aiken, SC, and Benjamin (Oriel) James of Clearwater, Fl, and a nephew reared as a son, Karl Wilson, Sr.; four special daughters, Angela Gleaton (Russell) of Aiken, SC, Stephanie James of Columbia, SC, Alethia Clift (Wallace) of Huntsville, AL, and Denise Watson of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Kathleen Wilson (Joseph) of Hephzibah, GA, Jenie Duncan of Denmark, SC, Julia Jamison of Hempstead, NY, and Eartha Jones of Bamberg, SC; brothers, George Brown of Fort Pierce, FL, and Harry Hughes, Jr. of Ehrhardt, SC; thrity six grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; nine sisters in laws, Betty James, Mary James, Essie James and Helen James all of Norway, SC, Sherry James of Orangeburg, SC, Albertha Johnson (Michael) of Eutawville, SC, Connie Jackson of North, SC, Catherine Thomas of Greenville, SC, Freddie Mae Joy (Isaac) of Baltimore, MD; three brothers in law, Freddie James, Jr of Denmark, SC, John James (Sharon) and Otis James of Norway, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
