Marilyn Elaine Lee was born on November 2, 1953, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to the late Landy and Mary B. Lee of Norway, South Carolina. From her earliest days, Marilyn’s life reflected faith, service, and quiet strength.
She received her education in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a proud graduate of Norfield High School, Class of 1971. At an early age, Marilyn accepted Christ and united with Bushy Pond Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a member of the Culinary Arts Ministry. Her hands were always willing, and her heart was always prepared to serve.
Marilyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandson, Tajh, who considered her home his second home. Marilyn’s love was evident in the care she gave and the meals she lovingly prepared. She would always go the extra mile to ensure those she loved were nurtured in both body and spirit.
She was retired from Bamberg Manufacturing and Methodist Oaks, where she served diligently as a dietary aide. Known for her quiet and gentle spirit, Marilyn carried herself with grace, humility, and compassion. Her presence spoke volumes, and her demeanor radiated love to all who encountered her.
On January 8, Marilyn peacefully departed this earthly life at the residence of her sister, Mary Jo (Melvin) Hart. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Landy and Mary B. Lee; her brothers, Reginald Lee, Gregory Lee, and James Wallace; and her nephew, Antwane Lee.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving son, Terrance (Tracie) Lee of Norway, South Carolina; her grandsons, Tajh and David Leaheart; devoted sisters, Melinda Lee and Mary Jo (Melvin) Hart, both of Norway, South Carolina; nieces, Renici (Tyrone) Sabb of Aiken, South Carolina, and Veriona Hart of California; nephews, Bryan Hart, Quamaine Lee, Dejuan Lee, and Myron (Jomauria) Lee; great-nieces, Jasmine and Mackenzie Lee, Tanira Sabb, Alaina Grainger, and Taylor Grainger; her God-sister, Debra Williams; brother-in-law, Melvin Hart; sister-in-law, Olympia Lee; those reared in the home as siblings, Herman Govan, Nathaniel Govan, and Janice Roberson; the love of her life, Kenneth Ryant; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Though Marilyn’s earthly journey has ended, her legacy of love, faith, and gentle kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
