It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Ann " BIG MA" Rhines.
MARY ANN GLEATON RHINES, affectionately known as Big Ma, was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on June 1st, 1948, to the late J.B. Hartwell and Lizzie D. Gilbert. Mary was raised and preceded in death by her loving grandparents Tillman and Elizabeth Gleaton.
At an early age, Mary gave her life to Christ in became a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church. Mary was known for her generosity of having open arms when it comes to accepting and helping anyone who was in need.
Mary passed away on April 12th, 2025, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her two brother J.D. Gleaton and Larry Gilbert, and grandson Antwane Lee.
Her wonderful life will forever be treasured in the lives of her children, Donald Gleaton of Salley, SC, Kathleen (Bennie) Steadman of Warner Robins, GA, Charlene Goodwin of Salley, SC, Lowanda (Christopher) Corbitt of Springfield, SC and Jennifer (Shawn) Smalls of Neeses, SC; One bonus daughter, Shontay Bell of Orangeburg, SC; Three Sisters, Carolyn Gleaton of Columbia, SC, Leatha Mae Jackson of Salley, SC and Sandra Kay Gilbert of North, SC; One brother, Charlie (Wilhelmina) Gilbert of Wagener, SC; One loving uncle, Wilbert (Carolyn) Gleaton of Springfield, SC;19 Grands, 33 Great-Grands, and a host of nieces,nephews and other relatives.
