Ricky Lavel Wade

We celebrate the beautiful life and memories of Mr. Ricky Lavel Wade. He was certainly a gentle giant who had an infectious smile and personality. Known to many as “Big Rick”, Ricky was truly family oriented being a great brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. He had a giving heart and loved to make you laugh! If anyone knows when he called you he would say, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!” He will forever be loved and missed.

On September 14, 1965, Ricky was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina to Ms. Annette Wade. On Saturday, November 5, 2022 God called Ricky to his heavenly home.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Annette Wade and his  grandparents, Nettie and Ladis Wade, Sr.

Ricky was a 1983 graduate of Hunter Kinard Tyler High School. He also obtained a degree in criminal justice from Denmark Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina. Working in his field for over thirty years, his career in law enforcement was extensive. He worked for CCI prison, Savannah River Plant, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. He later became a dedicated security officer for the Wellpath Company for over twenty two years until his demise. He also enjoyed entrepreneurship. For many years, Ricky flourished gracefully as he sold various items in the community and surrounding areas. He also had a great passion for fishing.

He leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to his loving sister, Wanda Turner (Deacon Freddie) of Columbia, South Carolina; two aunts, Janette Edwards, Houston, Texas, and Mable Cloyd of Columbia, South Carolina; two uncles, Joe L. Wade of Columbia, South Carolina and Ladis Wade, Jr. (Hattie) of Orangeburg, South Carolina; God Daughter, Kyra Bethea of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of relatives and friends who will forever hold him close to their hearts.
