Stephanie Scott-Blair Obituary

February 2, 2022 Stephanie Elaine Scott Blair transitioned to her eternal home where there is no more tears, nor pain.

STEP, as she was affectionately known was born December 28, 1978 in Frankfurt Germany and lived two years in Katy, Texas with her biological family whom she contacted just two years ago. At the age of three she was adopted by William and Marilyn Scott. She was reared in the home founded on love and a devotion to God.

Step attended and graduated from Hunter Kinard Tyler High School. She furthered her education at Claflin University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. In 2007, she obtained a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and completed coursework toward an Ed.D. from Liberty University.  Step was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She dearly loved her illustrious sorority, and made great strides to fulfill its true meaning of sisterhood, scholarship and service.

Step’s career consisted of fifteen years in the office of Sponsored Programs at South Carolina State University. Stephanie retired when her health declined. She enjoyed nothing more than staying at home with her children and family. Stephanie “grew up” in the church. Smyrna was her home church, and Bushy Pond was considered her second home church. During her childhood, if Smyrna was participating in any programs, Step certainly was participating also.

In September of 2002, Stephanie married Vincent Blair.  To this marriage two children were born, William Nigel Blair and Megan Raye Blair.

Stephanie was proceeded in death by her beloved father, Deacon William Scott. She leaves to mourn her death and cherish her legacy her husband, Vincent; two loving children, William and Megan; loving mother, Marilyn Scott; brother, Wesley Scott(Lucretia); beloved father and mother- in-laws, Deacon Leroy and Linda Blair; mother-in- law, Alice Hicks. Her memories continue with her sisters-in-law, Letwishay Franklin (Samuel) and Manuella (Roosevelt) Middleton; brother in law, Keith Tompkins; special nieces and nephews reared in the home, Alajah, Taylor and Karon Scott; additional nieces and nephews include, Xennia, Jeremiah, and Kyrie Franklin, Diamonad and Donald Graham, Tiffany and Sha Shahona Middleton, Jayden, Jayvion, Jaylin, Brendon, Jacob, Xavion, Savion, and Javier; a cousin whom she considered her sister, Kimberly Ray; two spiritual sisters, Deitra S. Briggman “her Mable” and Amanda Holliday. Stephanie also asked that her dog “Spot” not be forgotten; a host of other relatives, and many friends.
