Virgil Brown Obituary

Mr. Virgil Brown was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on December 23, 1946 son of the late Mr. Robert Brown and Ms. Thelma Hicks. Virgil was married to the late Gladys Jackson Brown for thirty- three years. To this union four children were born.

After thirty- three years of loyalty and service, Virgil retired from Ducane.  He attended the A.L. Corbitt Public school. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Jackson Brown; five brothers, Willie Hicks, Robert Brown, Lionell Robertson, Tony Golson, Walter Brown; and one sister, Gladys Hicks.

Virgil enjoyed playing spades and going to the community center. He played a role in the lives of many by carrying them around.  He was a member of the Flora Branch Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his rich legacy, five children, Stacey Brown, Angel Brown, Delane Brown, Dwayne Brown, and Edith Walker- Reed (Sharron) all of Salley, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Keshawn James, Shaniyah Parker, Shartia Reed, Zhy’kira Brown, Terra Brown, Sharron Lee Reed, Jr., Jada Brown, Savion Reed, Jamariane Corley, Dwayne Brown, Cayden Wade, and Layla Brown; four brothers, Gary Lee Hicks (Gladys), Andrew Hicks (Rosa), Norris Dennis (Betty), and Jack Rogers Brown; sisters-in-law, Regina Hicks, Mary Robertson, Catherine Jackson, Lillie Mae Jackson, Lumisher Tobin (Earl), Janet Odom; brother-in-law, Freddie Jackson (Phyllis); and a host of other relatives and friends.
